Volunteer Car Scheme

Our Community Car Scheme operates in the Stokesley District and Richmondshire.

Set up to help people who are unable to access public transport due to disability, age or where they live.

How can we help you?

We will endeavour to take you to any destination. However our service depends on volunteers, so we appreciate as much notice as possible. We will do our best to meet your needs.

What does it cost?

There is a mileage charge – currently 45p per mile – to cover the cost of the driver’s expense and is subject to a minimum charge. This is calculated from the driver’s home to the destination and back. We are a nonprofit making organisation, with this charge paid direct to the volunteer.

How can I get in touch?

Our scheme is open: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm,  Telephone: 01642 710 190.

Additional Information

All our drivers have to supply references and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We ensure they have a current driving licence, MOT certificate and insurance for the vehicle they drive.

Volunteer Drivers Sought

We welcome new volunteer drivers to help us continue this important service. Volunteers do not have to commit to any particular date or time. They must use their own vehicle.  We  are asked to provide regular and occasional lifts – you choose!

What about insurance?

We will provide public liability insurance for you whilst carrying out transport in association with our organisation.
