Back in January, Volunteer Centres acrossNorth Yorkshireencouraged people to begin a Healthy New Year by getting involved in local good causes through volunteering.

Lots of people got in touch with their local Centre, and went on to volunteer in a wide range of activities. If you didn’t get a chance to get involved, it isn’t too late. You can contact your local Volunteer Centre any time, and get involved in a wide variety of activities.

For many people volunteering is an enjoyable hobby where they get involved in something interesting, make friends, or get experience to help them get a job. Research shows that volunteering can also help to improve people’s mental and physical health. Volunteer Centres work with everyone and everyone has something they can offer, regardless of their ability, age, or background.

If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering and would like to speak to someone who can help please contact Volunteer Centre Stokesley on 01642 710085

And if you’re not ready to volunteer just now, look out for future campaigns and events, they could be just what you are looking for!

Since 2007 different parts of the country have been going over to Digital TV. This year the Yorkshire area is going Digital in August/September.

In practice, this may impact on your TV viewing in a variety of ways…depending on whether you have Digital TV at present or are still on Analogue.

The CCA is one of many Voluntary organisations able to offer advice about the switchover to Digital TV and the support available. Persons over 75 years of age or who are registered Disabled can get specific help to cope with the switch over.

The CCA will have publicity material and advice leaflets etc. to cover the majority of questions and concerns people may have. We will be publicising this during some of our regular functions such as our Coffee pop in sessions on a Friday.

In addition we are running 2 short sessions for Volunteers. The idea being they will be briefed about the Changeover and be given Advice sheets etc. to enable them to help clients understand what it means to them.

In particular Volunteers who are involved with clients on a one to one basis could help pass on the information.

The sessions will be 2 hours max commencing 1.30 pm on Monday 23rd May and Tuesday 7th June. They will give you an understanding of what the change-over means and what help and support is available.

Please contact the office if you wish to attend, and tell us which date would best suit you.
